Salmon Fishing VictoriaWe caught these Springs while salmon fishing off of Victoria a few weeks ago.  We would have posted it earlier but we have been super busy, which is great! Initially this trip was for the husband and the wife was keen to be there but not terribly interested in reeling in a fish.  Justin took that as a challenge and slowly started to talk about how to play a fish while salmon fishing and what to expect when the bite comes on. It wasn’t long before the first of these fish hit and Justin instinctively gave the first fish to the wife!  She was amazing, listened carefully to Justin’s instructions: keep the rod tip up, let the fish run – be patient.  After a great battle, the angler won and the fish was in the net.  The next fish struck and the husband played it like a pro.  It’s not everyday you get a combination of great fishing and calm seas but this picture captured the glory of moment perfectly. We are salmon fishing from Oak Bay to Sooke. We have several great spots just outside the harbor mouth so travel time is almost always under 30 minutes, more typically it would be 15 to 20 minutes to get to the spot the guide thinks you’ll have the most luck on the given day. The waters we fish are protected from large ocean swell because of our proximity to the Olympic Peninsula – which by the way add a dramatic backdrop when you are salmon fishing off Victoria, BC.
