Summer Salmon Fishing with Adam’s Fishing Charters

summer salmon fishing in victoria BC

Regular customers have a fantastic day off Victoria BC

Summer Salmon Fishing with Adam’s Fishing Charters is alive and well! If you are Trip Advisor people you will see our guests have had amazing experiences so far this season but we thought we’d chime in too to get you up to speed. Despite what you may have heard in the media in Victoria we are able to fish for and retain wild and hatchery salmon this summer. We are big believers in conservation of course but we also like to guide our guests into fish year round and we’ve been busy with only a few days in July still open for bookings.

We changed our booking slots to favour 6 hours trips for the end of July and August this year. We did this for two reasons mostly around maximizing your opportunity to catch fish. As the season progresses we often have to travel farther to find fish so instead of charging a fuel surcharge (fuel is our largest expense) we thought we’d just fish an hour longer and it’s paying off. A 6 hour trip typically departs between 6:30 – 7:30 am so you are back in Victoria between 12:30 – 1:30 with plenty of time to explore the other amazing things to do in Victoria. 6 hour trips are $750CDN ($570USD at the time we posted this) for the boat and your party can be up to four people. We find most groups are 2-4 anglers. If summer Salmon Fishing in Victoria BC is the reason you are here we will continue to offer our full day 8 hour trips for $925CDN ($702USD at the time we posted this)

Check out this photo taken today, it’s a great time to get on the water! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask, your 2018 salmon fishing season adventure awaits you!

Fishing in Victoria BC

Fishing in Victoria BC June 2017

Hello everyone! Another great day Fishing in Victoria BC. This fun couple came from Kamloops to try their luck fishing the waters off Victoria BC – The Capital City. We found these fish about 7 km’s from Victoria Harbour. It takes about 20 mins of running time and you find yourself on a bank that contains a fairly consistent supply of salmon. Our guides fish here a lot and know the area incredibly well. Using single action islander reels and light rods you get your work out in fighting these fish.

Limits for this time of year is 2 salmon per person per day with a 4 salmon possession limit if you fish multiple days. These lucky anglers “limited out!” and were off to take their fish home with them to share with friends and family. We love eating salmon and one of our favourite marinades is a simple combination of Ketjap Manis(sweet soy sauce), fresh grated ginger and sesame oil (just a few drops). Just mix those three ingredients together and BBQ the salmon brushing each side liberally with the marinade as it cooks. Serve with a salad from the garden and you have just caught and grown an awesome spring/summer meal.

Fishing in Victoria is easy, fun and a great way to create memories that will last a lifetime!

Adam’s Fishing Charters offers full and half day trips. Our half days are 5 hours and leave at approximately 7 am and 1 pm daily, full days are 8 hours departing at 7am. Chinook Salmon

Biggest Fish of the Year so far…

Yesterday we took an individual from Portland fishing and she caught a couple of the biggest Chinook Salmon we’ve had in the boat to date this year! But just wait… the fish are getting bigger and our guests will have to work hard to get them to the boat. Using single action reels and light weight rods you really get a feel for the power of these fish. The last few days have been nice and consistent with Chinook Salmon being our main focus.

Temple found these beauties near the gap in Oak Bay. Without sounding vain; our guides are the best on the south island. Temple our Head Guide has over 40,000 hours fishing the waters of Vancouver Island. He has been a huge part of our team for the last 6 years and we are so happy to have him! At Adam’s Fishing Charters we cater to expert and novice fisherman alike. We love to introduce people to the art of deep sea fishing; explaining tides, tackle and technique. We also like to swap fishing stories with seasoned anglers who share our love of this sport.

Adam’s Fishing Charters offers full and half day trips. Our half days are 5 hours and leave at approximately 7am and 1pm daily, full days are 8 hours departing at 7am. Spring Salmon Fishing

Salmon Fishing Victoria BC

Salmon Fishing Victoria BC

Oh what fun we had Spring Salmon Fishing yesterday. On this day we were delighted to welcome Anne a local Victorian who had friends visiting from Revelstoke, BC. She booked two of our boats for 5 hours of fishing for her friends and their exchange students from Mexico and Austria, pretty cool right! It turns out these exchange students really lucked out getting match up this amazing couple from Revelstoke who truly embrace our west coast Canadian outdoors. We were just one of the things they were experiencing as they explored Vancouver Island visiting Port Renfrew, Tofino and places in between. Lots of people do this route but you should give yourselves 5 days to a week (or more) to do it justice. Don’t forget to include Spring Salmon Fishing during your island adventure!

This time of year we are consistently finding Chinook Salmon the largest of the five species of Pacific Salmon found off the waters of Victoria, British Columbia. If you’ve spent any time reading our blog you will know that we have been in the fishing business for over 25 years and this is the time of year when the chinook start to get a bit bigger and really give us a fun challenge to bring them into the boat.

There was no shortage of action here hooking 9 salmon just a short distance from Victoria’s Inner Harbour. This group wanted to keep a few for the BBQ but released most of the fish caught which is a really fun way to experience fishing. As much as we love to eat the fish we catch it is also something to see them swim away and get a little bigger as the season goes along. We might just see one of them again later this year!

Salmon Fishing in Victoria

Salmon Fishing in Victoria

65 Years Fishing together

We specialize in Salmon Fishing in Victoria. Every once in awhile we get to be part of history. These brothers, Walt and Ralph, have been fishing together for 65 YEARS! An old friend of ours who spends time south of the border in the winter brought the brothers out on a fishing trip to try their luck for some wild pacific salmon. We have been working hard this year for our fish and today was no exception. This is the time of year when we focus on quality not quantity so every bite is critical. In early August fish can range from 10 -25 pounds and typically they get bigger as the summer goes on. From the first bite we knew these guys were real anglers -confident and steady as they reeled in two beautiful fish. In our business we call these salmon teenagers and are likely close to 18 pounds. We had four good bites during our trip and the brothers brought 3 to the boat. Plenty of fish for everyone to enjoy a west coast feast! It was such a good time with these guests salmon fishing in Victoria. We are thankful to have helped them add to their lifetime of fishing memories.
